Waterdrawing: the performance

for  piano  screen  space  silence  and  shakuhachi

Monday 3rd – Saturday 22nd November 2003
The Ariel Centre, Totnes
Water recycles endlessly. As the sea evaporates, rain falls on high moors. Springs become rivulets, streams become rivers and the rivers pour back into the ocean. On the banks human communities form sustained and refreshed by the endless passage of water.

A changing exhibition of sounds and digital video images gathered along the length of the River Dart from the source to the mouth of the estuary, with performances celebrating different stages of the river’s journey.

Gallery Open 10:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Saturday
Performances Monday 17, Wednesday 19, Friday 21, 8:00pm-9:00pm approx.

Tickets £3.50, or £8 for all three evenings
Available from Riverside Records, the Plains, Totnes and the Ariel Centre reception

Composed and directed by Mike McInerney and Jenni Wittman
Waterdrawing
is not simply the work presented here; it is an open-ended travelling project, bringing premade material, resources and a devising strategy to any site in order to construct an event in response to local resources.
