With training as a painter at Chelsea School of Art and a subsequent MA from the Royal College
of Art in Film and Television, a meeting with Anne Kilcoyne, founder of Touchdown Dance in Dartington, produced a series of gallery performances with paintings as their starting point.
La Mere la Mer at the Waterside Gallery, Exeter and
Summer Requiem at In Studio, Buckfast Abbey were devised by Anne Kilcoyne.
Colouring in the Difference at the Dartington Arts Gallery and Quartet for Voice Violin Video and Dance at the Ariel
Centre Gallery, Totnes were attempts to apply contact improvisation principles in a gallery space. Video footage was first used in the Quartet, the water material collected from the River Dart becoming a "moving painting".
The Quartet stills were taken by Oliver Tringham.
